South Australia Lotteries

The South Australian lottery started in May 1967. The Liquor and Gambling commissioner is responsible for ensuring all lotteries are conducted fairly and equally to those who participate and that they are conducted in accordance with the Lottery and Gaming Act 1936 and the Lottery and Gaming Regulations 2008.

Lottery products include keno, instant scratch tickets, minor lotteries, major lotteries, trade promotions, sweepstakes and Calcutta sweepstakes. Lottery tickets are sold by SA Lotteries through newsagents and other outlets.

In April 2007, legislation raising the legal age for buying lottery products from 16 to 18 went into effect.
