New South Wales Online Gaming
Bookmakers wanting to conduct online betting (thoroughbred, harness or greyhound races or approved betting events) must submit an application to Racing NSW and apply for an Electronic Betting Authority or Betting Back Approval from the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR). Once bookmakers are approved by the minister and an authorization is granted by Racing NSW, they may view prices and transact bets or bet backs with licensed wagering operators via the internet using an OLGR-approved betting system.
As of August 2010, punters and racegoers are allowed to bring laptop computers, tablets and other electronic devices into NSW thoroughbred racecourses without restriction.
In January 2015, the NSW government told online bookmakers it would not be able to block successful punters from making bets that pay out AUD 1,000.
